ACTIVE | A Family Guide to Getting Into SUP This Summer
CollaborationSummer is the perfect time to get outdoors and try something new! What better way to keep cool and create lasting memories than out on a stand up paddle board! Being on a SUP with your family is a great way to bond whilst also getting out and exercising on the water. So, whether youre looking to relax and take in the scenery or to go on a big family adventure and play lots of games, buying a Bluefin is the right choice! When deciding which board to purchase, you want something that is stable, versatile and that will stand the test of time. For families, our all-around paddleboards are the best choice. The Cruise and Lite have been designed for both beginners and advanced paddlers in mind, designed for stability and ensuring that you have a smooth experience out on the water. If you want to be on the same paddleboard, our tandem 15 or 12 Cruise is a perfect choice to share as they fit multiple people (and pups!). However, if you have a small child you could put them on our 98 / 108 Cruise or Lite paddleboard and it would work just as well! You can make your time out on the water even more fun with some interactive games, heres a couple of my favourite ones to play!Paddle RacesWho doesnt love a good sprint race?! You can play this multiple ways depending on how many SUPs you have. Timed races, head to head, team relay, who doesnt love a bit of friendly family competition!Paddle TagSimilar to just a normal game of tag but make it on the water, theres only one rule, dont be it!Essential SUP GearOnce you have your paddleboard you need some essential gear that will make your journeys worry and hassle-free.Dri-Tide Deck BagOur waterproof Bluefin Dri-Tide deck bag is the perfect bit of kit to accompany you out on the water, with space for snacks, water, anything needed for your adventure.E-Swift LiteHand pumping a paddleboard is no easy task, which is why the E-Swift Lite pump quickly became a SUP essential. Plug it into your car and let it pump up your board easily.Life jacketsWater can be unpredictable, so even the most confident swimmers should wear a life jacket. Itll give you that peace of mind that if anyone falls in or gets tired whilst out on the water, they are safe and buoyant.SUP Safety to ConsiderWeatherJust like the water can be unpredictable, so can the weather. Check weather forecasts before heading out to make sure that youre not paddling into any storms, strong winds or high temperatures.SupervisionWhilst paddleboarding is generally safe it is always best practice to supervise kids (and adults too) whilst they are out on the water. Be ready to lend a hand if required, especially whilst beginners are still getting the hang of paddleboarding.Where to go paddleboarding with your familyHere are some ideal locations to take your SUP out on its next adventure.LakesCalm, flat waters make lakes the ideal location for a family paddleboarding adventure. With no off-shore winds or waves, everyone can enjoy a day by the lake!Gentle RiversSlow moving currents can provide that sense of adventure whilst also being safe. Make sure to choose a river route that has been recommended as safe and calm for beginners, especially if you have young children with you.Coastal AreasCalm beaches or protected bays can offer the perfect place to paddle with your family. Ensure that you are looking for an area that is away from strong currents or busy harbours.Ready to get started? Now that you know why paddleboarding is such a fantastic family activity, why not take the plunge and make it part of your summer routine? Whether youre new to paddleboarding or a seasoned pro, theres a Bluefin SUP board for every family! GEAR | The Coleman Pro 3.7 L Jug is The Perfect Water Holder for Camping
If youre looking for the ultimate camping water jug, the Coleman Pro 3.7 L Jug could be your new best friend on a hot summer trips. Read on to find out more. What is it?Coleman Pro 3.7L Jug RRP: 60StockistsAmazonGo Outdoors FeaturesIce Cold or Piping Hot double-wall vacuum insulation keeps temperatures locked in for hours; drinks stay hot up to 34 hours or cold up to 75 hours, on the go or outdoorsIce Retention 2 daysCapacity 3.7 litresDurable Construction copper-plated stainless steel bottleLeakproof fully insulated lid for superior cold retentionEasy Grip Oversized handle makes it easier to carryOur Rating Quality 5/5Practicality 5/5 Value 4.5/5Overall Rating (4.5 / 5)The VerdictThis jug is more of an evolved camping water carrier. Its got proper insulation thanks to a thick double-wall constuction and vacuum-sealed copper-plated stainless steel which means that water stays cool for ages (48 hours in my experience), making it perfect for long days in the sun and summer camping trips. Its not just great for keeping water cold though, come the chillier months you can use it like a giant thermos flask, as its brilliant for things like soup too perfect for taking along to group winter swims or back at the car after family walks!Being the somewhat bougie camper that I am, I cant abide drinks that arent properly cold. I use a filter jug at home and take filtered water with me camping, but I always take a couple of bags of ice cubes to keep inside my ice box so I can guarantee cold drinks. On a recent very hot weekend, I filled the Coleman Jug at home and added a handful of ice, which provided ice cold drinks all weekend whilst I was away at a meditation retreat, without the need to take my big cool box with me.What really stands out is the build quality. Its chunky and sturdy, the kind of kit that wont buckle after a few trips. The silicone boot around the base is a clever touch too, it grips well and make it less likely to roll over or fall off your camp table. The oversized handle means you can haul it around a campsite or chuck it in a car without worrying itll slip out your hand.I love how easy it is to clean, carry and use. The lid locks down and wont leak, and pouring from it is smoother than youd expect from something so large. Unlike most water carriers which are made of plastic and prone to damage, this handles the rough-and-tumble of life outdoors, and keeps drinks refreshingly cold on even the sunniest days. In short, if youre after reliability, serious capacity, and something tough you can drop, bump, or lean on without worry, the Coleman Pro 3.7 L Jug fits the bill. Practical, durable, and weather-proof, what more could a camper ask for? Grab yours from Amazon or Go Outdoors.DISCLOSURE| Thank you to Colemanfor supplying the featured product.
