I Done Some Digging Into The AA Recovery!Washing the motorhome and talking through the clutch failure, AA recovery, winter power and the trip north. Here I share some of the gear Im most lusting over this winter ski / snowboard season.Solo Snowboarding in La PlagneI used to go boarding every single season without fail, sometimes twice a season, managing to fit in fortnight in Canada (nowhere beats Whistler imo) and a week closer to home in the Alps. Over the years though, as my tastes have become increasingly extra and spenny, my circle of family and friends that ski or snowboard has also shrunk. On reflection I realised with shock, that the last time I went snowboarding was back in 2019. Read about my solo snowboarding trip with Will-i-Ski.With that realisation came another, close on its heels: my beloved Salomon Lark snowboard, a treasured 30th birthday gift, is now two decades old. That thought ignited, with the fervent focus familiar to the neurospicy, a new mission: this winter, I would return to the slopes. The pledge was swiftly followed by a more sobering reflection, that now fifty, I may not have an endless number of snowboarding seasons left to savour. When I get an idea in my head, thats it, Im all in. Within 24 hours of deciding I was going snowboarding, Id rallied a small crew of friends and family who were all enthusiastic yeses, ordered a pair of new Roxy snowboard pants, drawn up a shortlist of potential boards and fired off quote requests to several ski chalets.A few days later, Id confirmed a booking to return to La Plagne and stay once again with the wonderful team at Wii-i-Ski, this time in their gorgeous new Chalet Ammonite. With snowboarding firmly on my mind and a complete new technical wardrobe to replace, I thought it might be fun to share some of my favourite ski and snowboard hardware and clothing discoveries so far.Haglofs Alper Proof Jacket Women 310If theres one thing I love, its a bright snowboarding jacket, and after many years of hitting the slopes in a group, bright jackets make friends much easier to pick out on piste. With Pro shell fabric and a 20k/20k rating, this is a serious jacket with ski/snowboard friendly features at a price point that isnt too eye watering. Grab the Haglofs Alper Proof Jacket here.Blending in on the slopes, or lets face it, anywhere, really isnt me, so this from Picture, is my dream jacket. Its worth mentioning that snowboarding is not a cheap hobby, even less so when you need to replace every item of gear youve ever owned. Picture Organic Haakon Jacket 350Id probably sell my first-born to get my hands on this Haakon jacket from Picture Organic, I mean just look at it! With a strong reputation for designing high-performance snow gear, the colourblock design and colours of this jacket won me over long befor the technical details had a look in.Anyone that snowboards knows that brands dedicated to snowboarding typically deliver not only garments that are fit for purpose and designed specifcially with us in mind, but their boards too, are going to be front and centre of their R&D. Burton Feelgood Flying V Womens 152cm Snowboard 585My very first snowboard was a Burton Feather with Flow bindings, which received a lot of hate back in the day, but I loved them as a wobbly beginner. My current bindings, although old, are Burton Escapades and my oldest snowboarding jacket is also Burton. Its safe to say Im a fan, and if I wasnt on a budget, Id be heading to TSA and snapping up the Burton Feelgood Flying V because it supports to kind of riding I like and looks pretty sick too.GNU Ladies Choice 2025 Snowboard $629If were going on pure looks however and the ability to absolutely seduce, my snowboard would be the GNU Ladies Choice 2025 All Mountain Board, their nature based animal designs really appeal to my witchy side. Looks aside though, this board delivers the kind of ride experience I love. Its also Jamie Andersons board of choice, boasting a hybrid camber profile and a rocker design providing easy switch riding, snappy carving and plenty of powder float. Positively drool-worthy.Smartwool Intraknit Merino Base Layer 120It might sound bougie but I hate wearing synthetic base layers, and yes, they are meant to be superior, but I just prefer the way really high quality merino wool feels against my skin. The Smartwool Intraknit base layer is a lightweight, super-moveable top, made for all of your most extreme cold-weather activities. With Merino Sport yarns and gender-specific ventilation perfectly placed to maximize thermoregulation and breathability during high-intensity activities, its perfect for winter sports.Womens Merino 260 Lounge Hoodie 150One of my favourite things about a snowboarding holiday is that feeling of getting back to the chalet, nicely worn out, heading out of the boot room, shedding outer layers on the way, grabbing a brew and curling up on the sofa with my Kindle in comfy clothing in front of the fire. Isbaa deliver immaculate apres chalet vibes with their lush Womens Merino 260 Lounge Hoodie made from superfine merino wool.Ive already got a brand new pair of snowboarding boots, so boots and bindings arent on my radar, but snowboarding pants definitely are. I tried on my old Helly Henson and ONeill pairs and the former fell straight down whist my Helly pants are also now enourmous on me, they got ripped last time I used them and have absolutely seen better days.Roxy Diversion Technical Womens Snow Pants 160Once again, plain black pants arent of interest, instead, bring on the candy colours! The Roxy Diversion Snow Pants are available in an array of super cute colours and have decent waterproofing and a lovely fit, slimmer on the thigh so they dont feel too swampping.Burton Womens Marcy High Rise 2L Stretch Waterproof Snow Pants 250The Burton Marcy Snow Pants would look sick with the Picture Organic jacket, but are way out of my budget. Still nice to dream though right? These pants have a four-way stretch, high-rise waist that hugs your body for extra warmth and coverage to seal out the elements. Their fully-taped build sheds wet weather like it should, while zip thigh vents make for menopause-friendly temperature management.Where to next?TRAVEL | Solo Snowboarding In The Alps A Wonderful Week in La Plagne With Will-I-Ski at Chalet GenepyGEAR | Volcom Cascade Ladies Technical Snowboarding Pants in Winter Orchid ReviewTRAVEL | 10 Reasons Why Whistler Blackcomb in Canada is Awesome (& You Should Totally Go There)The post ACTIVE | The Ski & Snowboard Gear Im Lusting After This Season 25/26 appeared first on Camping Blog Camping with Style | Travel, Outdoors & Glamping Blog.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 1191 Visualizações

- WWW.CAMPINGWITHSTYLE.CO.UKCAMPING | Winter Campervan Adventures Heres Why Your Class 7 MOT Matters More Than EverCollaborationRead on to find out why a winter camping trip in a larger campervan calls for extra care. Winter brings a different kind of adventure, cold mornings, crisp skies and the smell of wood smoke in the air, quiet winter campsites, and snow-covered landscapes. If youre planning a trip like this in a bigger campervan, especially if its converted from a heavier van chassis, youll need to think seriously about how well-prepared your vehicle is.With heavier loads, additional equipment, and more difficult road conditions, your vehicle ends up working much harder than usual. Thats why having a properly carried-out Class 7 MOT is so important. What Hazards Do Heavier Vans Face in Winter? When youre driving a large campervan, remember that youre handling a vehicle with more mass, greater inertia, wider weight limits, and often older components. Those loads, during the winter, come together with slippery roads, lower temperatures, and more vulnerable mechanical systems. Braking distances increase, tyres lose some grip, batteries are weaker, and lighting becomes more critical as the days get shorter. A complete Class 7 MOT ensures that each item from brakes to suspension, from lights to steering is in safe working condition. You wont risk getting stuck just when youre hoping to reach that perfect winter campsite. How to Make Sure Your Class 7 MOT Covers Everything campervans are not simply the same as regular cars with just a bigger body: they have heavier loads, travel longer distances between services, and are often used in more remote spots. This is why its so important that the MOT inspection is done by professionals who know heavier vans and winter travelling. To give yourself total confidence on your winter trip, make sure the team you choose understands weightratings, winter tyre performance, battery checks and winter lighting needs. For that peace of mind, you can trust Dexel Tyre & Auto Centre for a precise and professional Class 7 MOT tailored for heavier vans, ensuring your setup is fully suited for the winter road ahead.Key Components to Focus on in Your Class 7 MOTTyres & Weight Load: Generally, your bigger van is the one that is packed with different types of equipment; thus, make sure that your tyres are correctly rated and inflated for the weight. Low temperature and long distances may cause pressure reduction and tread wear problems that a good MOT will reveal.Brakes & Suspension: Winter roads with leaves, ice or rain require efficient braking and good handling. The Class 7 MOT will check for wear or damage in these areas, which is especially important due to larger vehicle mass.Lighting & Visibility: Shorter days and changing weather require strong lighting, clear lenses, clean wipers and fully functioning electrics. All of this is included in a full Class 7 MOT inspection.Battery & Electrical System: Cold weather reduces battery power and can reveal weaknesses in the wiring. A thorough inspection will thoroughly check whether your campervan is ready for the winter season or not.Steering & frame integrity: Bigger vehicles that travel along narrow lanes or uneven rural roads can place extra strain on the steering and the chassis. The Class 7 MOT is meant to examine the parts that are most affected by the weight of the vehicle.Set Off Knowing Youre CoveredWinter is one of the most enchanting seasons to travel in a larger campervan fewer people, nature at its best, the real feeling of getting away. But that only happens if your vehicle is ready. By giving your campervan the care it deserves through a detailed Class 7 MOT, youre not just ticking a box youre protecting your trip, your comfort and your peace of mind. The next time you leave your driveway in the cold dawn light, youll set off knowing your campervan can handle the journey.Enjoy the planning, pack smart, and embrace the quieter roads, your winter adventure starts with making sure your Class 7 MOT is fully up to standard.DISCLOSURE | This post has been placed by a third party.Where to next?GEAR | Outdoors, Active & Camping Christmas Gift Guide 2025Look Inside: The Colossal Camping & Activity Fun Book by Camping with Style OUT NOW!ACTIVE | The Ski & Snowboard Gear Im Lusting After This Season 25/26The post CAMPING | Winter Campervan Adventures Heres Why Your Class 7 MOT Matters More Than Ever appeared first on Camping Blog Camping with Style | Travel, Outdoors & Glamping Blog.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 1119 Visualizações
